Hawaii Teen Addiction Hotline

Hawaii Teen Substance Abuse Helpline

Alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes, prescription medications, and occasionally other illegal drugs like methamphetamine or opioids are the most often abused substances by youths in Hawaii. Due to its remote location and diversity in cultures, Hawaii has faced particular difficulties in preventing and treating substance misuse.

A thorough approach that includes prevention, education, early intervention, and treatment programs is needed to address teen substance misuse in Hawaii. To provide services and support for youth who are at risk, schools, community organizations, healthcare professionals, and governmental organizations frequently work together.

Prevention programs aim to educate young people about the risks associated with substance abuse and provide them with the skills and knowledge to make healthier choices. Culturally appropriate prevention efforts, community-based initiatives, and peer support networks play a crucial role in raising awareness and promoting drug-free environments.

Early intervention is vital for identifying and assisting teenagers who may be experimenting with or at risk of developing substance abuse problems. Early identification can prevent escalation into more severe issues and provide necessary support to teenagers and their families.

Hawaii offers various treatment services for adolescents struggling with substance abuse, including outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation programs, counseling, and support groups. Accessible and evidence-based treatment options are essential for promoting recovery and addressing the underlying issues contributing to substance use. If you need immediate medical attention, call 911 Now.

Hawaii CARES provides universal intake, screening, assessment, care coordination, referral, placement determination, and linkages to appropriate service modalities and resources across the state. Historically, SUD treatment programs in Hawaii operated independently of each other, offering limited or little coordination of services without ensuring that client care shifts freely between levels of care as clinically appropriate.
